Be a part of the Class of 1965 Legacy
Our 60th Reunion marks a special milestone! As part of our celebration, your 60th Reunion committee is asking each classmate to consider making a gift to our Endowed Class of 1965 Scholarship Fund. Established in commemoration of our 50th Reunion, our fund has been supporting outstanding Ducks since 2015! And as an endowed fund, it will continue to do so in perpetuity.
To celebrate our 60 incredible years as UO alumni, we have set an aspirational goal of raising $60,000 to build our endowment! All gifts will be counted as part of Oregon150, the university’s fundraising initiative centered around student success and capital projects that aims to raise half a billion dollars through December 31, 2026. Oregon150 builds the bridge to the university’s comprehensive campaign which will launch in 2026 along with the UO’s 150th anniversary.
- All gifts are welcome. This includes out-right gifts of cash or stocks; future giving through your estate; life income gifts; real estate; securities; and gifts-in-kind.
- Class gift totals for our 60th Reunion will reflect all gifts to our class scholarship made between July 1, 2024 through December 31, 2025.
- Your gift counts in recognition of our class and your alumni contributions to the University of Oregon. Your name will be included in an online Honor Roll on our reunion page, as well as in the printed 60th Reunion program.
Our 60th Reunion is a time to reflect upon our years spent on campus and how that period shaped who we are. The power of the UO experience continues as today’s students take similar paths of self-discovery, preparing for successful careers and rewarding lives. Please join us in this effort!
When you support our Class of 1965 Scholarship Fund, you share your enduring pride in our alma mater. Your gift lets your voice be heard by a whole new generation of Ducks. We are proud to celebrate the legacy of our Oregon experience as we enhance the myriad ways the university serves its students, the state, and the world.
Hear from a Scholarship Recipient
To the Class of 1965,
My name is Grace Himsl, and I received the gift of your scholarship during my time at the University of Oregon that culminated in my graduation in 2023. Your help gave me the ability to not only to continue my education at Oregon but set me up to be more financially successful post-graduation. With the gift of a scholarship, it allowed me to save money that has since been put to use for a master's degree. I currently have started an MA program in Public History at St. Mary's University Twickenham in London, England. I am working on expanding my knowledge in the realm of historical education, outside of the classroom. My program ended with a professional project done in conjunction with a historical institution here in London. Without the gift of your scholarship, I do not believe it would have been possible for me to continue my education past my time at the University of Oregon.
My most cherished memories, as I am sure many of you have similar feelings, were made at the University of Oregon. I will be a Duck for life. Having the gift of the Class of 1965 scholarship helped allow me to create those memories. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all for your generosity to your fellow Ducks. I hope your reunion is filled with much joy and laughter. Thank you all again for your help. Go Ducks!
Best,
Grace Himsl
Reasons You Give
You remember when our tuition was $75 per term and want to improve the affordability of a quality education for current students. Tuition today is about $5,300 per term.
You know that helping to shape the life of a student is a good return on investment.
You believe in the UO and its mission.
You want others to have the opportunities you had while at the UO.
You can make your gift in honor or memory of someone special.
You love the UO!
Why does the UO need my money? Doesn’t the state of Oregon provide enough?
Most people don’t know it, but the State of Oregon ranks 44th in the nation in terms of per-student state funding for its public four-year universities! Not only that, within Oregon, the University of Oregon – which is the state’s flagship institution - receives the lowest level of state appropriations per resident student of all public universities. This means that alumni and donors like you and philanthropy are important now than ever - especially in states like Oregon. Your investment in the UO supports everything from mental health services, food security, and emergency funds to cutting-edge research and innovative projects.
