Are you constantly rushing but never catching up? Join fellow Ducks for a groundbreaking exploration of "hurry sickness"—the hidden epidemic affecting high-achievers everywhere.

Through her research, UO alumna Kandi Wiens, MS ’96 (industrial relations), has discovered that many who've built successful careers are trapped in this chronic condition of “hurry sickness”—rushing through life feeling productive but never fulfilled, always behind despite constant motion. Kandi’s presentation is based on research for her upcoming book, Rushing to Nowhere: How to Escape the Endless Loop of Hurry Sickness.

In this interactive 60-minute session, you'll discover:

  • Why you feel anxious even when you have time to relax
  • The six-stage "endless loop" that keeps you perpetually rushing
  • How hurry sickness differs from healthy urgency and why it undermines performance
  • Evidence-based strategies to escape the cycle without sacrificing your ambitions

You'll complete a personalized "hurry audit" to identify your specific patterns and triggers, plus receive practical tools you can implement immediately to start moving at a more sustainable pace.

Whether you're a recent graduate launching your career or an experienced professional questioning your relationship with time, this session will help you recognize that there's a better way to achieve your goals—one that honors both your ambition and your human needs for connection and meaning.

This virtual event is perfect for UO alumni in demanding careers who want to maintain high performance without burning out. UO students are also welcome to join!
